2019 – FRIDAY 24 MAY
A SPIRIT OF STUPOR
God has given them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes that they should not see
And ears that they should not hear,
To this very day.
Fed up with their quarrelsome, self-centered ways,
God blurred their eyes and dulled their ears,
Shut them in on themselves in a hall of mirrors, and they’re there to this day.
WHAT IS STUPOR
It is suspension or great diminution of sensibility, as in disease or as caused by narcotics, intoxicants, etc.: He lay there in a drunken stupor.
It is mental torpor; apathy; stupefaction.
It means to be numb or stunned.
A spirit of stupor happens when people stop leaning into God’s presence – and stop hearing His voice.
1. STOPS YOU FROM BEING ALERT TO SEIZE THE DAY
Stupor stops you from seeing God opportunities.
2. SHUTS YOU IN ON YOURSELF
Nothing worse than being shut in on yourself. You soon become stupefied with your own company and conversation.
3. SEES EVERYTHING IN A HALL OF MIRRORS
People in a stupor become very insensitive to what is going on around them. They stumble and lurch through life reacting to one bad reflection after another.
4. IT RESULTS IN BLURRED EYES AND DULL EARS.
Two end results of a self induced stupor.
Your vision is blurred and your hearing is dulled.
God’s plan and purpose no longer stay in focus and – “all these other things” become your reality
5. BRINGS YOUR PROGRESS TO A STANDSTILL
Unless you return to the Lord and seek His forgiveness and restoration – you will stay in your stupefied state permanently.
Only Jesus can sober us up and bring us back to His plan and purpose.
Until the Lord restores our sight – we are not going anywhere in life.
Until the Lord restores our hearing we will be strangers to His voice of instruction.
SEEK THE LORD WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND.
