Watching the sun come up and sipping on a piping hot skinny flat white at Mooloolaba is one of my favourite activities.
However – not all is well in paradise. My favourite cafe has dropped off in their commitment to service and getting the orders right etc. So I decided to try the next cafe down the esplanade. Even as I sat down I felt like a traitor to the cause. I have been coming to this cafe since it first opened and know most of the staff well.
Finally I had to jump up and leave my new place of escape and quickly return to my first love. Truth is the new cafe had not bothered to serve me in the time I was there.
The place of first love is the place where you have over time built a relationship of consistent trust. Things may not be perfect but you sure know what to expect.
Trust – is the basis upon which all relationships flourish.
Remove trust and your relationship suffers. Sadly some people have become so suspicious and distrusting in their attitude to life that their first response to life is the opposite to first love. Some may have come from broken marriages and so their trust has been broken by flawed parents. Some have been ripped off or decieved and so they can no longer genuinely trust.
First love means you run to a position of trust first – and from there real communication flows.
TRUST means the following.
T – time to build relationships
R – respect for one another
U – understanding when failed
S – shielding the other from hurt
T – total commitment to bless the other
A friendship without genuine trust has no future and will fail for a dozen declared reasons – but at the heart of it all is a failure to consistently trust through thick and thin.
Remember – when trust fails – truth fails. Trust always needs truth to survive. If trust is failing then someone is not being truthful and so then many other matters arise as threats to the relationship in the absense of truth.
So here I am back at my first love coffee shop with a renewed commitment be be honest and again tell them what I want in our relationship.
They were stoked that I took the time and now know again what I expect from our relationship.
Life’s good when trust reigns.
