EXCEEDING AND ABOUNDING
2 Thessalonians 1:3
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,
THE SIMPLE LIFE
Sometimes we forget how simple it is to live for God.
Too many people want to exceed in performance and abound in possessions.
Here in 2 Thessalonians Paul begins his dialogue by exhorting the saints to keep it simple and exceed and abound in two important things.
“Your faith grows exceedingly” – is quite the commendation.
It must have been evident to all, that they were taking great steps of faith to live for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
V4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,
The evidence that your faith is growing exceedingly is seen in your ability to stay victorious despite the persecutions and tribulations present.
Love abounds toward each other!
Love one another as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.
There is always – something and someone – unloveable in your world.
Practice your love-ability today.
Love covers a multitude of sins – so begin there.
Love also leaves judgement to God – so try that as well.
Love never gives up on marriages – family – friends – and even enemies.
The ultimate commendation in life – is that people are thankful that you are in their world.
Remember – the real test is not just that you are thankful for what you have – but that others are thankful they have you.
People will always be thankful for you when you show EXCEEDING FAITH AND ABOUNDING LOVE.
