2019 – SUNDAY 06 JANUARY
Why do some people harden their hearts toward God and live in open disobedience to the word of God.
I think the church has become too kind and tolerant of sinners who claim to be saints.
God is so much more than just a good, good Father.
Here are some reasons why people are comfortable living disobedient lives.
WHEN SHOWN RELIEF
But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as the Lord had said.
Just because people show you kindness in the midst of your obvious disobedience – does not mean they – or God approve of your ways.
WHEN GOD SHOWS MERCY
But Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also; neither would he let the people go.
If you continue to harden your heart against the word of the Lord – God will continue to show mercy – for a season.
WHEN GOD SETS YOU UP FOR JUDGEMENT
But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh; and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.
God sets up the wicked and the unrighteousness for a “showdown for the crown.”
God’s word and God’s ways are perfect. When you live in disobedience – it sets you up for the perfect storm.
WHEN YOUR FRIENDS AND SERVANTS AGREE WITH YOU
And when Pharaoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet more; and he hardened his heart, he and his servants. So the heart of Pharaoh was hard; neither would he let the children of Israel go, as the Lord had spoken by Moses.
There is nothing worse than your inner circle agreeing with you in obvious disobedience toward God.
WHEN GOD USES YOU TO DISPLAY HIS JUDGEMENT
Now the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the Lord.”
Sadly the end of a hardened heart is an amazing display of the power of the Almighty God.
Never envy – nor imitate the wicked – their end is coming.
