2019 – THURSDAY 18 JULY
I WILL DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE – BUT I WON’T DO THAT
Meatloaf sang this song years ago – and it seems like it has become the anthem for many so called Christians.
They profess their love for Christ – whilst clearly rejecting His most basic commands –
To love one another
To help build His church
To live righteously
And to minister to the least of these – the poor and broken.
LOVE FOR CHRIST IS NOT A CROSS AROUND YOUR NECK
Your love for Christ is seen in your love for what He says is important – which is quite simple – the saving of lost people.
LOVE FOR CHRIST IS SEEN IN YOUR WALK OF FAITH
To acquiesce to the customs and values of modern society – and leave your first love – your highest dream – your God breathed plans – because something is failing in your life – is dumb at best and disobedient at worst.
LOVE FOR CHRIST CONSTRAINS YOU AND COMPELS YOU
There are no conditions on the love of God. His love goes beyond performance, personality and prognosis.
So must our love.
I will never forget ministering to a married couple in ministry when it came out that the husband had full blown aids from living a secret gay lifestyle.
His wife who had every biblical reason to leave him – declared to me that she had committed to him for better or for worse – and so she will care for him until death brings their parting.
Now that is the love of God – constraining and compelling a believer to be steadfast in Christ.
When people claim issues have forced them apart – it usually means the issue of “life in Christ” is no longer flowing.
LOVE FOR CHRIST IS SEEN BY HOW YOU TREAT OTHERS
King Saul in the Bible used people to make himself look good.
Those around Saul ended up dying sad deaths.
Whereas King David used all he had to make others great and mighty around him.
His mighty men were amazing in God.
When a person becomes all controlling – you will notice their personal devotion and softness before God will have waned.
Humility is always the basis for genuine love.
LOVE CONQUERS ALL
