INTERRUPTED DEVOTIONS

2020 – TUESDAY 15 DECEMBER

INTERRUPTED DEVOTIONS

Every morning I get up early to have my devotions with my God.
It is a habit that I love.
However, every morning as I sit at my desk to read the word and pray – there is a fly waiting to distract me.
Every morning – without fail – a fly begins to attack me with a vengeance not seen among mere mortals.
And every morning I get the spray to kill the fly – declaring softly but very intently – “You will not survive – you will not survive.”
And so the battle rages.

THOUGHT DISTRACTIONS
It dawned upon me that this is exactly what the enemy of my soul does to me – every morning.
He assigns a fly-thought to distract me from my focus upon the Lord.
I am so easily distracted.
My mobile phone is one of the greatest fly attractors in my world.
These thoughts come in all forms – but they are simply flies from the dust – to take you away from having meaningful devotions with the One you love.

SPRAY THESE THOUGHTS
Our insecticide against such insidious diversions – is praise and thanksgiving.

CLEAR THE ROOM
Begin to give thanks to the Lord for what He has done for you
Then start to praise Him for who He is.
Keep doing it with a resolve that declares to every fly-thought – “you will not survive.”

IT IS DONE
Whoever would have thought that such a feeling of victory and overcoming could be known by such a one as I.
And yet to be free from fly-thought attacks is to be free indeed.
There are no flies in the presence of the Lord.
Declare your soul a fly-free zone.

AND THEN WORSHIP HIM
IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH
