2017 – WEDNESDAY 01 NOVEMBER
“Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ,” I am blown away by this statement.
“Worthy of the gospel of Christ.” HOW DO I LIVE WORTHY OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST.
Consider the actions of Jesus in redeeming mankind from the curse of sin.
“but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
1. HE SAID YES TO THE WILL OF GOD
Despite the implications of obedience – he said yes.
Despite the sacrifice required – he said yes.
To live worthy – is to say yes to His will.
2. HE HUMBLED HIMSELF
He left his exalted position – being equal with God – to take on the form of common people.
To live worthy – is to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God.
3. HE BECAME A SERVANT
Not only did he take on human form – he became the servant of humanity for the good of all mankind.
To live worthy – is to live for the good of others.
4. HE IDENTIFIED WITH SINNERS His passion for his creation and for those lost in sin caused him to love them unconditionally.
For God so loved the world – He sent His only son to die for their sins.
To live worthy – is to acknowledge – that I am a sinner saved by grace.
5. HE DIED SO THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE
Jesus laid down his life – so that others may find eternal life.
Our salvation cost Jesus everything.
To live worthy – is to lay down your life for the cause of Christ.
We are called to live worthy of this gospel.
