2020 – TUESDAY 30 JUNE
LOVE DEALS WITH DIFFERENCES
I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
I IMPLORE YOU
The way believers deal with differences is to implore one another to show love, acceptance and forgiveness.
Paul implored them to be of the same mind – with one heart to serve the Lord together.
TWO STRONG WOMEN
Differences and diversity are with us all of the time.
Differences can bring about disagreements.
Disagreements are a healthy part of growing strong.
We can disagree without being dishonouring.
We can disagree without having to dominate.
We can disagree without sowing discord.
Discord leads to disunity – and then the trouble begins.
Disunity is the result of people taking sides.
THE CHURCH IS BIGGER THAN TWO SIDES
Paul reminded his leaders that there were many other faithful fellow workers – who had not taken sides.
The moment you take sides – you widen the divide.
NAMES IN THE BOOK OF LIFE
At the end of the day we are fellow saints together.
The book of life does not record skin colour, or class distinction, or personal achievement.
The book of life records those who are washed in the blood of Jesus.
I IMPLORE YOU – LET LOVE BE YOUR RULE OF LIFE.
