MY KIND OF CHURCH

2019 – SATURDAY 27 JULY

MY KIND OF CHURCH

Having recently had to make a choice about the kind of church I want my children’s children to be a part of, – I sat down and came up with this list of things I want in my church.

A GLOBAL VISION
We are no longer “village people.” We are now globally connected and I want my church to be globally commissioned – and using the best of technology to have global influence.

A LOCAL MISSION
The church I want to serve must also have real expressions of love and compassion toward the broken – lost – and deceived – in our own backyard.

A TRUSTWORTHY LEADERSHIP
Leaders who stand the test of time – and trials – and who live by clear biblical convictions are people I can follow.
A leader must be both faithful and faith filled. Believing God for better outcomes and staying the path until victory is obtained.
Leaders are not perfect – but they are perfected by their ongoing faith in God, and His power to do miracles.

A SPIRIT OF FAITH – HOPE AND LOVE
I want a church where…
FAITH – Believing in God
HOPE – Believing in self
LOVE – Believing in others
are clearly evident and central to all we do.

A COMMITMENT TO LEAN IN TO GOD’S PRESENCE
My church must gather first and foremost – to encounter the presence of God.
Everything else is supportive of our desire to seek God – experience His presence – and to make Him known.

A VOLUNTEER SPIRIT
I love churches where everyone willingly adds their uniqueness to the building of the church.
No job is too big or too small.
No position better than the next.
I love seeing people turn up to serve and give it one hundred and ten percent.

A NEXT STEPS JOURNEY
The discipleship maturation journey is clearly central to why we do church.
We are called to make disciples of those who choose to follow Jesus. My church is not a spectator sport.
Everything we do should be to become better followers of Christ.

A PROMISE – THE BEST IS YET TO COME
I love going to church where every part of the service inspires me to believe for better things.
The preaching is to the heart to increase my faith AND to establish me in righteousness.
I love living in the light of God’s great promises.
I LOVE THE CHURCH
