2017 – SUNDAY 31 DECEMBER
NEW YEARS EVE
For many years – my son Andrew and I would get up around 4am on New Years Day and drive an hour to Noosa – to surf at first light.
I never got over seeing the remains of a poorly spent new years eve.
There were bodies strewn everywhere – lying comatose – after an ill spent New Years Eve.
Shattered glass – vomit and other distasteful evidences of people lacking self control – were evident everywhere.
1. MAKE NEW YEARS EVE – MEMORABLE
Sadly most people have little memory of what they do on New Years Eve.
At best they drunkenly lurch into a new year – at worst they have no idea what happened.
Make the change of calendar – to a new year of challenge – worthy of the moment.
2. MAKE NEW YEARS EVE – A CELEBRATION
Passing from one year to the next – should be a celebration of the following.
The goodness of God
The power of faith
The strength of friendship
The value of integrity
The call of God
3. MAKE NEW YEARS EVE – AN ACTIVATION
I believe in New Year’s resolutions.
It is a good thing to activate your faith for a new year.
4. MAKE NEW YEARS EVE – A DECLARATION
Start a new year with some clearly defined declarations.
You don’t have to publish them on social media – just speak them to your soul – with clarity, purpose and faith.
5. MAKE NEW YEARS EVE – A CONTINUATION
It is just another night on your journey of life. Don’t hang all your hopes on rash new year resolutions. Get some clear convictions – and make some strong commitments – to a continuing life of faith and discipline.
Your journey of faith is more than one night of hope.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
