OUR NEAR GOD AND FAR GOD

2020 – SUNDAY 21 JUNE

OUR NEAR GOD AND FAR GOD

Psalm 46:7&11 (twice)
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.

THE PSALM FOR SOPRANOS
This Psalm is all about God being our very real and present help – and also our refuge we can run into, in times of trouble.
It was to be sung by virgins or sopranos. That means it had a soul lifting high melody.

THE PSALM OF ASSURANCE
God is our very real and present help – in times of trouble.
He is with us. Stand firm.
A very present help in times of trouble – therefore we will not fear.

THE PSALM OF ASSISTANCE
However there are times when all hell breaks loose and our world falls apart.
It is then that God says there is a city of refuge – the city of the most high God.
In these times we must seek God’s presence and run into His strong city.

THE PSALM OF AUTHORITY
Psalm 46:6
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.
Whether God is with you in the battle – or you run into His city of refuge – He promises to deal swiftly with your enemies.

THE PSALM OF OUTCOMES
Psalm 46:10&11
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.

OUR GOD IS BOTH WITH US, AND PROVIDES A PLACE OF REFUGE FOR US
