Every Tuesday Marion makes up huge supplies of pancake mix for the Kings High Schools team for their brekky program. I find it neccesary to test each batch for consistency of texture and taste. It is my way of helping the team.
There is no doubt in my mind that Marions’s pancakes are the best on the planet. All the school kids agree as well. It probably takes Marion about an hour a week and a few dollars in materials and yet scores of school kids are blessed weekly – as well as one happy taste tester.
The point is that pancake Tuesday has become a focus point in the Penny household where we believe with the team for scores of teenagers to find Christ through the simple act of making a batch of pancake mix. There are a million ways that you can be a part of the great volunteer revolution taking place in the community through the church. Your unique contribution may just fit into the chain of volunteers working to change the world.
It costs me a lot to make time every Tuesday to be the taste tester – but it is important for the team that I use my gifts wisely and well. SJP
