SCARY ASSIGNMENTS

SCARY ASSIGNMENTS

Jonah 1:1-3
One day long ago, God’s Word came to Jonah, Amittai’s son: “Up on your feet and on your way to the big city of Nineveh! Preach to them. They’re in a bad way and I can’t ignore it any longer.”
But Jonah got up and went the other direction to Tarshish, running away from God.

God told Jonah that his next assignment was to go and preach in the city of Nineveh.
Not only was he scared of these wicked people – truth is – he didn’t care about their salvation.
In fact He would rather see God wipe them out.
The lessons from Jonah are simple.

1. NO-ONE IS DISPOSABLE TO GOD.
The heart of the gospel message is simple – all people matter to God.
When you live like ALL PEOPLE matter to God you open God’s heart.
When ALL PEOPLE don’t matter to you – you break God’s heart.
When all people don’t matter to you – you see people like “trees walking,” and no-one really matters.

2. SOMEONE IS RESPONSIBLE TO GOD
God always has a chosen vessel.
His plan is never without a carrier of the good news.
YOU ARE THE ONE – God’s vessel – to reach SOME PEOPLE  in your world.
Take responsibility for the SOME PEOPLE – in your world and watch what God can do.

3. NOT EVERYONE IS RUNNING FROM GOD
Truth is – God has a plan for ALL PEOPLE – and someone has to stop running from scary assignments – to carry His good news.
Maybe it is time for you to listen for His new assignment – whether near or far.

4. YOU’RE THE ONE TO FULFIL THE MISSION FOR GOD
Only when you accept the responsibility of – I AM THE ONE – can God’s mission be fulfilled in your world.
God has blood washed saints everywhere – to do His will – even if He has to use gentle persuasion to get their attention and compliance.
Perhaps your present circumstance is to get your attention.
Jonah went to hell and back in the belly of a whale – before he yielded to God and returned to His God call.
SOMEONE IS WAITING FOR YOU – TO BE THE ONE.
