SPIRITUAL MATURITY
PART SEVEN

1 Corinthians 2:6-16

WE UNDERSTAND OUR HUMAN WORLD BY OUR HUMAN SPIRIT.
“For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?”

SPIRITUAL MATURITY FLOWS AS HUMAN WISDOM
Human wisdom is God’s gift to mankind. It is included in His common grace to all mankind.
We often call it common sense.
Our human wisdom includes the following capacities.

1. AWARENESS OF OUR SURROUNDINGS
Human wisdom is extremely important to do life well.
By the proper processing of information from our senses, we are able to have awareness of our world.
God placed Adam in a garden and told him to be aware of the condition of his surroundings, and tend and keep them.
Sin destroys the awareness of your surroundings.
Righteousness takes responsibility for your surroundings and wants to make your world a better place.

2. UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONTEXT
Putting things into context is a part of being mature.
Society functions well when people can contextualise their rights, roles and responsibilities for the common good.
Context helps people realise the result of their actions in their world.
Sin destroys context and puts all focus on self.
Righteousness realises the fruit of our actions affects many.

3. DISCERNMENT OF INTENTIONS
The human spirit has the ability to know and feel the spirit of others.
By this we connect with those of similar spirit. Sin dulls the human spirit to moronic levels so that most choices are made on physical attraction.
Righteousness brings clarity to our heart and mind, so that we can discern the intentions of others.

4. CONCLUSION RE CONSEQUENCES.
The human spirit knows right from wrong. Our own spirit has the ability to sound warnings when God’s boundaries are crossed.
The human spirit is dead to God’s love.
We are born in sin and so our human spirit cannot know spiritual things.
It can however know and excel at created things.
Sinners are dead to God’s spiritual things but alive to God’s created things.
Some Christians are alive to God’s spiritual things, but dead to God’s created things.
The spirit of God within us should stimulate our human spirit to excel in our created world.
SPIRITUAL MATURITY IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY TO EXCEL IN YOUR NATURAL WORLD.
