THE BOOK OF MALACHI
Malachi told of the coming day of the Lord and accused the people and priests of indifference, doubt, and immorality.
THE COMING DAY OF THE LORD
Malachi had heard the promises and declared them to Israel – of the the coming Day of the Lord.
And yet the priests and the people just continued on with life as usual.
Seems to me that this is very similar in our days.
Jesus is coming soon – the prophets are blowing the trumpet with a certain sound – and yet much of the church remains unchanged.
It all begins with indifference.
To the presence of God.
To the word of God.
To the lostness of humanity.
To the signs of His coming.
Indifference or compromise, always leads to doubt and unbelief.
The indifferent soul will always question the sanity of righteousness which is by faith.
Once doubt toward God and His word is established – the tree of self indulgence becomes very attractive.
Once leaders engage in behaviour unbecoming – righteousness is no longer a benchmark of behaviour – amongst the church and its people.
