2020 – THURSDAY 21 MAY
THE ISOLATION INCIDENT
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
ISOLATION TO RELOCATION
It is clear in the Bible that God puts people into isolation for a number of reasons.
TO GET THEIR ATTENTION
After 40 years of isolation God wanted to get the attention of Moses.
His encounter with the burning bush changed everything from that moment on.
TO DEAL WITH THEIR FLESH
Moses had tried to serve God in his natural ability, but ended up fleeing the wrath of Egypt, and hiding for forty years in the wilderness. His quick anger had been dealt with – and he was now ready for leadership.
TO DELIVER THEIR CHARGE
The burning bush encounter with God changed everything.
The charge to rise up into the mission of God was being given afresh.
Courage to lead
SHAKING TO SHIFTING
God was about to shake Egypt – and someone had to be ready to lead the God Shift.
BURNING BUSH TO BRAVE NEW WORD
A brave new world awaited Moses. Would he turn his isolation into motivation – to return to Egypt and fulfil God’s purpose?
