2020 – TUESDAY 11 FEBRUARY
THE JESUS REVOLUTION
In my teens and early twenties I was part of an incredible revival.
IT WAS PART OF THE HIPPY FREEDOM MOVEMENT
The great emancipation of a young generation from the control of conservative values was now happening – and the rush to freedom and wickedness knew no bounds.
IT WAS CALLED THE JESUS REVOLUTION
In the midst of this new rush to be free from the shackles of conservatism – emerged an awakened young generation of Christian youth who were no longer satisfied with Sunday church.
THERE WERE SOME CLEAR CHARACTERISTICS
IT WAS NOT BUILDING FOCUSSED
This was a movement that hit the streets.
Coffee shops became the gates into a new way of faith.
Occupy all streets – was their cry.
IT WAS JESUS FOCUSSED
Street marches – open air meetings – anything that declared Jesus – was employed to share the message.
Huge worship concerts were everywhere.
The ONE WAY JESUS sign was on every T Shirt.
The power of the Holy Spirit was embraced – and demonstrations of His power were everywhere.
IT WAS MUSIC FOCUSSED
Larry Norman sang the declaration song – Why should the devil have all the good music.
Church decided to embrace contemporary music.
IT WAS A DISCIPLESHIP MOVEMENT
This was not a Sunday church revival – this was a commitment to discipleship. Small groups to worship and study God’s word were everywhere. Unstructured and organic – they flourished.
IT WAS DANGEROUS
The organic nature of this revolution meant it could not be controlled by religion. Error and mistakes were everywhere – and many counterfeit movements emerged – but the miracles of changed lives continued to be reported.
IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN
THIS GENERATION IS RISING FOR A JESUS REVOLUTION
