Sitting at Mooloolaba 6am in August reminds us Queenslanders that there is a season called winter. For about two weeks the westerly winds blow in and chill us to the bone. Temperatures can drop down to as low as seven or eight degrees and everyone rummages through wardrobes looking for a coat or something to keep us warm.
Reminds us again that life will have its seasons.
The warmth and fun of summer on the beach will give way to the starkness of winter before spring appears again and then back into summer.
A couple of thoughts.
A. Never be surprised when your seasons change. It happens to all of us. And not always when we expect it.
B. Wear each season well. Make sure you have the appropriate clothes, finance, emotional quotient required for an adverse season.
C. Find the God factor in every season.
Calm boat rides on a tranquil lake can turn into wild storms. But God is still with you in the boat.
D. Storms come in every season
Don’t pronounce a seasonal change because of one storm. Storms come in all seasons and don’t always indicate a new season.
E. Light the fire
If a winter season rolls in then overcome the season you are in. Light the fire and break out the marshmallows and start roasting.
F. Phone a friend
Usually others are experiencing the same season so phone up a friend and gather around something that warms and cheers your hearts together.
G. Don’t isolate yourself
Winter forces everyone into their caves.
So don’t isolate yourself from company as it is usually others who help us come through our tough seasons in life.
E. This too will pass
Remember every season is a season. It will pass and spring will appear and the sound of singing will again be in the air. And when winter is over you will emerge stronger and wiser from the season.
