I travel the globe preaching God’s word. As it is not always possible for Marion to travel with me, I am often alone for lengthy periods of time.
Here are some thoughts on being alone:
1. BEING ALONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE LONELY
Loneliness is an attitude – not a circumstance. We must always learn to draw with joy our life flow from the well of salvation within us.
The art of being alone is practised by so few.
I love being able to go into my cave and find solitude and rest. I also love time alone to seek the Lord and search out His truths.
2. BEING ALONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE INCOMPLETE
Singleness is not a disease. Completeness is found in Christ.
So whether you are single for a few weeks or for life, it does not mean that there is anything incomplete about you.
Aloneness is essential at times to learn how to be “complete in Him” without every other thing.
3. BEING ALONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE ISOLATED
In today’s world with modern technology, there is no such thing as being isolated and alone. Use your connectivity to bless your expanding world.
I spend time most days writing blogs and articles through which I can bless many from my cave of quietness.
4. BEING ALONE DOES MEAN YOU WILL BE CONFRONTED WITH YOUR DEMONS
When Jesus was alone in His wilderness of testing, the devil came to tempt him to the deepest levels. Every human desire was distorted and made appealing. Jesus used the word as His weapon to overcome every work of the evil one.
Jesus’ alone time of testing prepared Him for the season of fruitful ministry ahead.
5. BEING ALONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE FAILED
Failure is always personal. Therefore, whether you are alone or swamped by crowds, you are not failing if you keep doing what you are called to do.
6. BEING ALONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE HIDDEN
You are never hidden from the loving gaze of your Heavenly Father. He sees everything and is mindful of all you need in life.
In a world swamped by the spurious pursuit of possessions and performance, it will do your soul well to find the deep and lasting joy found in that state of aloneness, where it seems God shows up and manifestly reveals aspects of His nature, not found in the busyness of dust.
