2019 – SATURDAY 16 NOVEMBER
RAISING GODLY LEADERS
Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the captains, and he said:
“We are yours, O David;
We are on your side, O son of Jesse!
Peace, peace to you,
And peace to your helpers!
For your God helps you.”
So David received them, and made them captains of the troop.
FROM BURDEN TO BLESSING
Amasai means – burdensome.
A Levite, son of Elkanah, of the ancestry of Samuel
( 1 Chronicles 6:25 & 35
The leader of a body of men who joined David in the “stronghold,” probably of Adullam ( 1 Chronicles 12:18 ).
RESTORING THE PRESENCE
One of the priests appointed to precede the ark with blowing of trumpets on its removal from the house of Obed-edom ( 1 Chronicles 15:24 ).
CLEANSING THE TEMPLE
The father of a Levite, one of the two Kohathites who took a prominent part at the instance of Hezekiah in the cleansing of the temple ( 2 Chronicles 29:12 ).
I love this guy – Amasai.
His beginnings were a burden – but his love for God and His house, made him and his descendants a blessing for generations.
Amasai was blessed in that he caught his passion for God from his father – Elkanah – whose name means – acquired by God.
WHEN YOU LIVE – ACQUIRED BY GOD – YOU BRING FORTH AFTER YOUR KIND.
