Proverbs 12:3 (Message)
“You can’t find firm footing in a swamp, but life rooted in God stands firm.”
I am often confronted by desperate people who want you to be their saviour from an immediate dire circumstance.
Sadly the immediate fix they are seeking is not the solution to their lifestyle problem.
Consider my swamp theology.
1. SWAMPS ARE THE LOWLANDS OF LIFE
If you end up in a swamp – it means you have been on a downward journey for some time.
2. SWAMPS ARE DANGEROUS PLACES TO DWELL
Swamps are murky waters and shifting sands – creating a dangerous environment in which to settle.
3. SWAMPS ARE FULL OF HIDDEN PREDATORS
Swamps have many hidden predators. The low-lands of life also conceal the low-life of humanity.
Don’t dwell with low life.
4. SWAMPS HAVE NO FIRM FOUNDATIONS
Swamps are by nature built on soft, slushy, shifting foundations.
Nothing of permanent value will ever last if built in a swamp.
You will never have firm footing in a swamp.
5. SWAMPS DO NOT ATTRACT
People who can help – will not invest into a swamp.
Perhaps it is time to get a hand up rather than a hand out – and move to higher ground and firmer foundations.
6. SWAMPS DROWN MANY PEOPLE
If it feels like you are drowning – find the Rock in the swamp – His name is Jesus. He will save you – and then help you climb out of the swamp forever.
7. SWAMPS ARE GATHERING PLACES FOR VICTIMS
Stop blaming everyone else for your downfall – and start your faith journey today. You are not called to swim in your swamp – you are called to leave it behind – and start pursuing the promises of a better life.
YOU ARE PROMISED BETTER THINGS – THROUGH CHRIST WHO PURCHASED YOUR SALVATION
